Details of Gnet

The Details

Gnet is not only nature, but also history. In the surrounding mountains, traces of the ancient border between the State of Milan and the Venetian State are still visible, bearing witness to a past rich in events. From 1426, when Valle San Martino and Val d'Erve entrusted themselves to the Republic of Venice, this area became the setting for centuries of clashes, reconquests, and periods of coexistence. In 1757, with the Treaty of Mantua, the large boundary stones known as "terminoni" were placed, officially marking the limits between the two states, later definitively recognized in 1772. Today these historic signs, immersed in the natural landscape, make the visit even more fascinating, turning a simple walk into a true journey through nature, history, and local tradition.
